Discoverers Room (Babies)

Welcome to all the new parents and babies to Monkey Puzzle Angel. We are getting to know you and would like to say how lovely it’s been to see the babies settle in.
This month has been very exciting and very messy! We love messy play and love getting the babies involved. Flour play has been a favourite with the babies, frozen jelly with cars and we can’t forget the shaving foam with animals! It was so nice to see how engaged they were when the adults supported them. They had a lot of fun exploring, getting super messy. We hope they loved it as much as us!

1The babies have enjoyed story time. A few favourites have been ‘Up, Up, Up’, ‘Shape Swingalong Show’ and ‘Dear Zoo’. Up, Up, Up and Shape Swingalong Show are from Barefoot books. The books come along with a cd and the music sing along is available on Youtube. It’s a great time for the babies where they spend time together as a group and show an interest in books.

We celebrated Black History Month with the babies. The babies participated in a hand printing activity as a group using different colours.
We decorated the nursery this month for Halloween and had our first ever Halloween at the nursery. Thank you so much for the effort made in dressing up the babies. We love their adorable costumes, they looked really cute. We had a lot of fun, taking pictures. We loved our little bat, vampire, pumpkins, lion, pirate and skeleton! We had creative activities based around Halloween which the babies enjoyed, including painting their own pumpkins.

To fellow parents and carers, we want to place a range of basic words in your home language around the room. It would be great if you could let us know some of them so that we can use them to enhance communication with the children.

It’s been such a great month and thank you all for your support so far!

Explorers (Toddles) & Inventors (Pre-school)

First of all I would like to welcome all of the new children and their mummies and daddies to Monkey Puzzle Angel. We have all been busy settling in and making lots of new friends. The toddler/pre-school room is now up and running and all the children are now settled and are familiar with the daily routine of the room.
This month the children have been learning about the zoo and the farm animals. The children made a wonderful display of different zoo animals with help from the adults in the room! The children also enjoyed playing with all the zoo animals and even attempted to make their own zoo using the wooden blocks and wild animals. The children and staff then took a short bus ride to a real farm and after having a picnic of rice cakes and water got to see the real animals. Most of the children seem to really enjoy watching the ducks and geese splashing about in the pond and watching the keeps feed the ducks and geese grain.

This month we had black history month and after the staff made a mini board the children helped to decorate it and with help from Shana the children all painted their hands and made a wonderful flower out of the hand prints to represent that ‘we are all one’. The children also got to dress up in fun African clothes and listen to some African music.

5Throughout the month the children have also been making lots of art work related to Halloween such as bats, spiders and pumpkins that Emese helped the children to paint.

We also celebrated our first ever Halloween at the nursery. The children all looked very cute in their Halloween outfits! Thank you so much for making such a great effort. On the day of the party we had a slimy witches’ cauldron set up with slimy spaghetti, jelly and spiders. We also had messy play with insects and shaving foam in the large tray. As well as all these fun activities the children also had the chance to get their face painted to add to their amazing costumes. The children also enjoyed pumpkin carving where the children all took turns in helping Simona to carve the pumpkin.
