Celebrations One of the best ways to introduce children to the amazing diversity of beliefs and cultures in the world, is to work with parents to make sure that your children can celebrate important events at the nursery and share it with all their friends! We believe this helps give children a positive introduction to the huge diversity of the world, to help them grow into tolerant, accepting individuals. We all like to celebrate here at the nursery, so whichever days and events matter to you, we will be sure to include in our activity planning for your child. Some of our favourite activities are painting and decorating symbols and emblems, making display pieces and making birthday cards! Mother’s and Father’s day We can’t quite train the children to serve you breakfast in bed, but we do like to help them make these days more relaxed and memorable for you. So we like to put on Mother’s day tea parties and Fathers day barbeques. All of our parents are welcome to come and take part in the activities, get their faces painted and have their photos taken with our super fancy high tech photo frames. This will also give you a give you a great chance to see what kind of fun learning games we have, what songs we sing and how your child plays with all their friends, as well as being a great opportunity for a good chat with your child’s key person. Parent’s Evenings Parent’s evenings are an important part of how we coordinate with parents to make the most of your child’s time at the nursery. We make appointments so that you can sit down with your child’s key person and discuss your child’s development, their time at the nursery and any opportunities we have for improvement and development. We like to keep a positive attitude about these events and make them as much about enjoying and appreciating what your child has achieved so far, as it is about how we move forward to continue excelling and growing together. EYFS evenings The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) statutory framework is a government initiative which is designed to set a standard of care to ensure that your child is encouraged and supported in all of the important areas of their development. One of the many things our staff are trained in is the application of the EYFS in childcare, the milestones laid out by the framework are included in our Learning Books software and we have displays in the nursery explaining the EYFS and our commitment to it. We think it’s great to get parents to understand and engage with the EYFS so that we can be coordinated in our objectives and methods, so to help this, we have evenings where the parents can come and learn about the activities we use and how they help children achieve those important developmental milestones. Our staff can really help parents to see the learning opportunity in various activities and games and are happy to share their expertise with parents! Trips We try to make our nursery the most amazing place for your children to learn and play, but not everything can be achieved in such an environment, children need to explore and see the outside world too! To help broaden our curriculum and keep things exciting and interesting for everyone, we like to organise little trips out. Some of our favourite places so far have been our local parks, the science museum and even a little charity shop close by! All the locations we go to are checked and risk assessed by staff prior to the trip and we also like to make sure there’s plenty of adults to keep the children safe whilst they explore and have fun. Parents are more than welcome to help out and volunteer on such trips, as it really helps us provide a better and more comprehensive experience to the children and provides another chance for us to get to know you and vice versa!
