This week, our children at Monkey Puzzle Angel celebrated Lunar New Year, which is also knows as Chinese New Year, marking the beginning of the coming 12 months on the traditional lunisolar calendar.

During the multi-day festivities, we celebrated the Year of the Rabbit, as each year is named after one of the 12 signs of the Chinese zodiac in a repeating cycle.
Our practitioner Jessica, who is originally from China, planned some exciting invitations to play and explore for the children. She created some great opportunities to embed her home culture into the children’s learning, celebrating our diverse nursery community.

Our Discoverers in the Baby Room created some unique new year’s artworks, with their finger shapes resembling the Chinese new year’s flowers.
The Toddlers made traditional Chinese firecrackers and our Pre Schoolers created Chinese lanterns which are a sign for happiness and best wishes for the coming year.
