Today we had two special guests in the nursery, Elizabeth and Bruno. Bruno is a retired guide dog with a long career of success, he now lives with Elizabeth and keeps her company.
A guide dog is a specially trained assistance dog that helps blind or visually impaired people to be more independent, that’s what Elizabeth told us today. The world is designed for people who can see what is going on around them. Being able to see means that people know where they are going, what to avoid and how to move around safely. For those who have impaired sight, a guide dog can help them to navigate their way around without having to ask for help.
Today, we learnt that in his last job Bruno used to take a blind man to work, helping him taking a bus to and from work. And now, every Tuesday, he visits people at the hospital as part of the pet therapy project, to provide some comfort, distraction and stimulation. 💕💕💕💕
What these dogs and the organisation do to help people with additional needs it’s just inspiring!!! Look how engaged we were today and we also got the chance to stroke him….Bruno is so soft!!!!! See you soon Bruno and Elizabeth, thank you for visiting us today and for helping so many people out there who need extra support.
