Children’s Activity Newsletter: Pumpkin Fun at the Steam Lab!
This week, our young explorers had an exciting adventure that combined creativity, science, and hands-on learning! The day began with a visit to the local shop, where the children picked out their very own fresh pumpkins to kick off our fun-filled pumpkin-themed activity in the STEAM Lab.
Once back at the lab, we gathered for a quick safety briefing, as this activity involved using a hammer—an important lesson in both safety and responsibility. After reviewing the rules, the children jumped right into the action!
Using their pumpkins, they practiced hammering pegs into the surface, working on their hand-eye coordination while getting creative with pumpkin carving. It was amazing to see how focused and determined they were to master this new skill, all while exploring the different textures and shapes of the pumpkins.
But the highlight of the day was the grand finale—a pumpkin volcano experiment! After carving, the children combined lemon juice and bicarbonate of soda to create a spectacular, fizzy explosion inside their pumpkins. Their faces lit up with excitement as they watched their creations bubble over!
This activity was not only fun but also an incredible learning experience. The children explored alternative uses of natural resources, practiced problem-solving, and developed their creativity in a safe and engaging environment.
We can’t wait for our next adventure! Stay tuned for more hands-on activities and experiments that inspire curiosity and learning.
Best,
The Angel STEAM Lab Team
