We had our babies visiting our local theatre, Little Angel Theatre, for a very sensory play about the four seasons, called “Persephone, a Tale of the Seasons”.
We ALL, adults and babies, were mouth-opened for the entire 45-minutes session. We have never witnessed babies lasting such a long period, seated and  engaged. At the end of the performance, we were invited to play with some sensory resources used during the play, we had so much fun!

The show began with a sensory experience of the snow which included lights and background music to add additional elements. It had some amazing singing which really made the babies intrigued from the start. The babies were introduced to their first character Robin red Beast which was a big red chicken. Then the season changed to Spring when the babies met their second character the lovely bunny, who hop around the spring flowers. After spring, it was summer, and we listened to the birds and the cool waves of the sea; we went to the beach and felt the textures of the seashells. The last season was autumn where the babies watched the leaves falling and felt the crunchy textures. We were then introduced to our last character, the hedgehog, who the babies loved watching running around.

It was a lovely performance, and the babies were fascinated from the start to end. After the performance the babies also had the opportunity to freely explore the environment and the resources used. This was a very natural way for them to be part of the experience.
